You're feeling embarrassed.
Embarrassment feels enormous and it shrinks fast. Almost nobody remembers your moment as long as you do โ they're too busy replaying their own.
Things that actually help
- 01
Ask: will this matter in a week? In a year? Say the answer out loud.
- 02
Name it: "That was embarrassing and I survived it." Both parts are true.
- 03
Don't hide for days. Going back the next day is what makes it shrink.
- 04
Tell one safe person. Shame gets smaller when it's said out loud.
- 05
Let yourself laugh about it later โ that's how it becomes a story instead of a wound.
Cool-down reset
- 1Splash cold water on your wrists or face
- 2Breathe out slowly for 6 counts
- 3Roll your shoulders back
- 4Say: "This feeling is temporary"
Write it out
